Climate: Reducing our footprint

We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. We are proud of our zero-emission equipment and work towards cutting down on the use of de-icing chemicals. We aim to minimize our fuel emissions and use electric equipment in our ground handling operations.

Our environmental focus areas in 2024:

Electric Ground Handling, Emission savings, Waste recycling.

Emission savings at the airport

Electrification of Ground Handling Service Equipment

We are the first company in the Nordics to invest in zero-emission technology. 70 % of our ground handling service equipment at Helsinki Airport is powered by electricity.

Reduced Ground Handling Emissions

We switched to 100% renewable motor fuel oil at all our 11 airports in 2024, leading to major emission savings.

Reduced Glycol Consumption

We are pioneering in reduction of pure propylene glycol consumption in de-icing mixers, leading to signifigantly lower environmental burden.

Major results

In 2025, we took a significant step forward in our sustainability journey by prioritizing renewable energy solutions across all operations. These actions have strengthened our commitment to reducing emissions and improving environmental performance throughout our network.

Renewable fuels

Our CO2 emissions mainly arose from the operation of our ground handling service equipment and vehicles. Therefore, in 2025, we switched the fossil fuel oil to renewable Neste MY Renewable Fuel Oil™at all our 11 airports, which lead to major emission savings. Renewable fuels can reduce the carbon footprint by up to 90% over its entire lifecycle compared to fossil fuels.

Electric equipment

We prioritize electrical ground handling equipment in our investments, and already 70% of our Ground Support Equipment at Helsinki Airport is electric. We also test electric fleet together with our stakeholders.

Our top commitments for 2025

2025

net zero in direct emissions.

-10%

emission reduction from our business travel.

100%

electricity in our facilities is from renewable sources.
