Investments in Regional Airports across Finland Continue: Airpro Procures New De-Icing Equipment from Textron GSE

Airpro and Textron GSE have agreed on the procurement of seven new de-icing trucks for aircraft ground handling between the years 2018 and 2020. The procurement is part of the largest equipment investment program in the history of Airpro.

Airpro and international ground handling service equipment manufacturer Textron Ground Support Equipment Inc. (Textron GSE) have signed a multi-million euro contract concerning the procurement of seven new de-icing trucks for Airpro in phases between the years 2018 and 2020. The equipment will be manufactured at Textron GSE’s factory in Sweden. The new de-icing trucks will be utilized in Airpro operations at Regional Airports across Finland to substitute current equipment and meet the demands of increasing traffic to Lapland. After the procurement in 2020, Airpro’s operative collection will include a total number of 30 de-icing trucks.

Procuring equipment from Textron GSE is part of the largest ground handling service equipment investment program in the history of Airpro. Motivated by energy and emission efficiency, Airpro renewed its equipment strategy in 2014 and based it on the notion of product life cycle.

”The functionality of ground handling service equipment is essential in providing high-quality, safe and profitable ground handling services. Most of our current equipment function mechanically with very little strain on the environment. Regarding our operations, it is important for us to advance investments that align with sustainable development. The new de-icing trucks operate by mixing fluids with water which, when compared to previous equipment, will decrease the consumption of de-icing fluids by almost half. Thus, Textron GSE equipment suit our needs at Finnish regional airports from Turku Airport to Ivalo Airport”, says Airpro Managing Director Janne Hattula.
